Catherine Robertson is active as a pianist, chamber musician, singer, conductor, coach and teacher. She is a frequent piano and choral adjudicator at music festivals across the country. Catherine received her B. Mus. Piano Performance (Queen’s University), Piano Licentiate LRAM
(Royal Academy of Music, London, U.K.) and her M. Mus. Piano Performance (WU) degrees. She was a collaborative pianist and coach at Wilfrid Laurier University, and has taught piano at Redeemer University College.
Catherine presently teaches piano at the University of Guelph and also teaches piano and piano literature courses at Conrad Grebel University College, University of Waterloo. For four years she conducted the Grebel Chapel Choir, the University’s oldest performing ensemble.
Catherine serves as resident pianist with DaCapo Chamber Choir. This K-W choir is dedicated to the performance of contemporary music. Catherine has recorded piano and chamber music including works by Leonard Enns and Michael Purves-Smith. She enjoys the challenges of presenting new compositions.
A love of early music was shown over the fifteen years in which Catherine directed TACTUS Vocal Ensemble. This professional octet specialized in music of the European Renaissance. Catherine also sang as a consort member of Tafelmusik Chamber Choir, and for many years accompanied and sang with the Elora Singers.
Catherine frequently plays and also serves on the board of the Guelph Connections Concerts series. She supports GCC’s dedication to the promotion of musical excellence and accessibility in Guelph.
