Donna is a composer whose music is well-loved by singers in elementary schools, vocal studios and choirs around the world. Her songs are in the RCM graded vocal series. Donna is an elementary music specialist (37 yrs) with extensive experience in choral, recorder, handbell and general classroom music. She studied classical violin and piano and has been a church organist. Her Juno-nominated professional singing duo, Donna & Andy, has multiple ECMA and Music NS awards for children's music.

Donna Rhodenizer is a composer, music educator, performer and recording artist. She has composed over 400 original compositions for singers of all ages, publishing choral octavos for adult choirs, and single titles and song collections for elementary students (in English and French). She has been commissioned to compose or arrange choral works for the Nova Scotia Music Educators’ Association, Aeolian Singers of Halifax, Cantabile Singers, Annapolis Valley Honour Choir, Viva Chorale (Salt Springs, BC), Grinnell Children's Choir (Iowa) and other choral ensembles. She has also composed over thirty works for violin and piano. Some of Donna’s pieces are included in the Royal Conservatory of Music graded Voice Series published by Frederick Harris.

Donna’s compositions have been used in festivals, school concerts, assemblies, music classrooms and regular classrooms and have been performed by choirs across Canada, as well as in the US, Australia, Trinidad and Tobago, Sierra Leone, England, Ireland, Austria, Spain and Hong Kong.

Donna is a music education specialist, now retired after 37 years in the elementary music classroom. She is a Juno-nominated and ECMA-winning recording artist as part of the professional singing duo, Donna & Andy. Donna & Andy were Artists-in-Residence at the Canadian International School of Hong Kong in April 2014. In addition, Donna has presented workshops for teachers in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Ontario, Saskatchewan, plus the International Society for Music Educators, and Podium (ACCC). She was awarded both the Nova Scotia Music Educators’ Association Musica Viva Award and the Canadian Music Educators’ Association Jubilate Award of Merit recognizing her significant contribution to music education in Canada. She also received the NS Music Educators' Association Lifetime Achievement Award.

Donna's music is published by Red Castle Publishing, Full Voice Music, Frederick Harris (RCM vocal series), and Cypress Choral Music, Vancouver.
