Aury Murray has completed both the Associate Piano and Associate Voice Teacher’s Examinations of the Western Ontario Conservatory of Music (now Conservatory Canada). In addition, she holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts – Music Major from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Aury is a member of the Canadian Music Festival Adjudicator’s Association and has adjudicated and examined across Canada. In addition, she has served on the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association Provincial Council.
Aury has taught vocal ensemble for the Department of Music of Lakehead University and guest lectured for the Faculty of Education. She has also been a clinician during the “ Adult Vocal Week” of Choirs Ontario. After many years of teaching piano and voice in Thunder Bay, she moved with her family in 1995 to Toronto where she established an active music studio. She has had students graduate with their Associate from the Royal Conservatory of Music, Conservatory Canada and the Canadian National Conservatory of Music.
In July, 2014, she moved back to Thunder Bay and remains active in the local music community as a Thunder Bay ORMTA master class instructor and pedagogy workshop clinician. Pre CoVid, she was the choir director and accompanist of “Good Company” a rural women’s choir. Aury is also a provincial workshop clinician for ORMTA.
In addition to teaching privately, Aury has conducted piano, harpsichord, pedagogy and voice workshops as well as master classes. She has also accompanied vocal and flute students in master classes, auditions and conservatory examinations. Other musical activities have included Music Minister of Erindale Presbyterian Church in Mississauga for many years, as well as adjudicator of piano and voice for ORMTA, Kiwanis Music Festivals and other regional music festivals. Her most recent 2024 adjudications include the ORMTA Metro Toronto Zone Competition in both piano and voice and the virtual North York Festival in piano and voice. Other virtual adjudications include London, Ontario Kiwanis Music Festival ( Junior Piano), Bolton-Brampton-Caledon ORMTA festival (Senior Piano) and Etobicoke-Mississauga ORMTA Awards Festival (all levels of piano)
Aury had a major role in the creation of the Canadian National Conservatory of Music (CNCM). Her CNCM roles have included Coordinator of Examiner Training, Coordinator of Vocal Programs, piano examiner, voice examiner and clinician for the annual CNCM “Summer Sizzle” Pedagogy Workshop.
Aury encourages music students to develop well-rounded musicianship and a long lasting love of music.
